Papercut Art｜剪纸2022-2025From childhood, I have been captivated by traditional crafts—paper-cutting, shadow puppetry, and crochet. I came across dyed paper-cutting from Yuxian, Hebei Province, China.With each cut and carve, the colors—softly blended and textured—come to life on the paper, quietly planting a seed of inspiration in my heart.I began by using paper-cutting to tell the stories of Aesop’s Fables, and later turned to Shan Hai Jing. Though one is from ancient Greece and the other from China, both convey simple life philosophies and reflections on humanity’s connection with nature and fate. Like paper-cutting itself, they are ways to express wishes and beliefs—inviting fortune, blessings, and peace.
童年时期，我便对剪纸、皮影、钩针等传统手工艺充满兴趣。也似缘分一般接触到了染色剪纸。那种带着晕染肌理的色彩，在一剪一刻之间跃然纸上，悄然在我心中埋下了种子。起初，我尝试用剪纸讲述《伊索寓言》的故事，后来开启了《山海经》。这两部作品，一个源自古希腊，一个出自中国，看似遥远，却都蕴藏着朴素的生活哲理与人类对自然、命运的理解。它们与剪纸这门民间艺术一样，都是人们寄托愿望与信念的方式：迎祥纳瑞，祈福安宁。



Shan Hai Jing｜山海经2025In 2025, I began this paper-cutting series, drawing from the auspicious trees and mythical beasts of The Classic of Mountains and Seas. Using folk paper-cut techniques and traditional dyeing, I preserve the natural gradients of colored rice paper, letting color float between light and paper. Eyes weave through the compositions—watching, gazing, responding—becoming witnesses within the myths.Each tree and beast carries spirit and meaning, offering protection or guiding the way, like a bridge between past and present. Amid shifting light and shadow, may this paper Shan Hai unfold a timeless scene before you, awakening distant dreams and the dormant spirits within.
2025年，我开启了这个剪纸系列作品的创作。本系列作品选取了《山海经》中富有吉祥寓意的灵木与奇兽篇章，以民间剪纸为媒，在传统染色技法的基础上，保留宣纸染色时自然晕染的肌理，让色彩在光与纸之间沉浮流动。眼睛的元素穿插其间——注视、凝望、回应，成为神话中的见证者。灵木与奇兽皆有灵意，或护佑平安，或指引归途，仿佛是古今之间的精神坐标。在光影交错之间，愿这一纸山海，为你展开一幅跨越时空的图卷，唤醒心中的遥远梦境，也唤醒沉睡已久的内在神明。




 



Fables ｜寓言 2023-2024Merging Chinese paper-cutting with Aesop’s fables, this series creates a timeless dialogue across cultures. Ancient techniques meet universal wisdom, exploring the mysteries of life and nature. Through delicate cuts, flowing forms, and vibrant colors, the works invite viewers on a fantastical journey of discovery and imagination.
将中国剪纸与伊索寓言的融汇，是一场跨越时空的交流。剪纸作为古老艺术形式之一，以独特的审美，展现着中国文化的深邃底蕴；而伊索寓言则传递着智慧的种子，植根于生活的土壤，是智慧与人性的交响乐章。这一系列作品探索生命与自然的奥秘，呼吁人们在多元社会中共同建构和谐共生的美好生活。透过纸张轻盈的起伏、灵动的切割和色彩的交织，引领观者探寻生命的真谛，走进一段跨越时空的奇幻之旅。
